Washington D.C. based organization Partners for Livable Cities named Birmingham one of 30 most livable U.S. cities in 2004. “The designation was based on creativity and the ability to prepare for the new economy. Creative Places are defined as attractive places to live, work, play, visit, retire, raise a family, attend a university, grow a business, and enjoy diversity.” www.mostlivable.org.
Money magazine ranked Hoover among the 2004 top twenty hottest places to live in the eastern U. S. with populations under 100,000. “A town becomes hot for established, mid-life professional people when they can find the best house, job, school district, neighbors and lifestyle they can afford.” http://money.cnn.com/best/bplive/cities_table/.
