Public Policy Events
The Public Policy division of the Chamber holds seven annual events a year. Most events allow our members to meet with our elected officials on the local, state and national level to learn how issues may affect the business community. Below is a list of the annual events.

- Legislative Luncheon
- Washington Fly-In
- Transportation Update
- Congressional Update Forum
- BIG Trip
- Luncheon with the Governor
State of the Region
Held each January, this
breakfast event features yearly outlooks from the county commission presidents of each of the seven counties in the Birmingham region.
Legislative Luncheon
At the start of each year's state legislative session, the Chamber holds a luncheon in Montgomery with our seven-county legislative delegation to unveil our state legislative agenda. This luncheon is often attended by the Governor and Lieutenant Governor as well.
Washington Fly-In
Chamber members travel to Washington D.C. to meet directly with our Congressional delegation. A two-day trip held in early spring provides rare opportunities to meet with our U. S. Senators and Representatives.
Transportation Update
This mid-year update on local transportation projects from the state Department of Transportation director is typically held over lunch every July.
Congressional Update Forum
This breakfast
meeting provides our members with a chance to hear from one or more of our
Congressional delegation to get a "look ahead" on issues facing Congress in its
upcoming fall term and how it may affect Birmingham businesses.
BIG Trip
Started in 2002, members, elected officials and economic development agencies see first hand in this 3-day trip in October at how other cities have progressed, and in turn, what ideas can be implemented in the region.

Luncheon with the Governor
An annual tradition, this luncheon features a speech by our Governor on what issues are currently affecting our region.
